dogheadsurigeri, MARAws and Mermaid & Seafruit

Criss-Cross #4
30. 8. 24, 9 p.m. – 1 a.m.

The Criss-Cross music programme by artist, queer activist, and curator Zosia Hołubowska consists of live acts and music sets that combine experimental and electronic club music. The invited musicians and DJs celebrate local communities and connections. Each event follows a no-headliner rule so that different scenes and initiatives from Austria and Central Europe come together on an equal footing over the summer. Expect music that questions genre borders, brave and vulnerable performances, and diversity of talents. The selection strives to center marginalized perspectives and music charged with subversive messages.

Stadtgalerie Zwergelgarten

Mermaid & Seafruit

“Mermaid & Seafruit are a live-act beyond and in between the binaries of genre, like a very concerning threeway of glam-metal, hyperpop and hardcore gave birth to dark and electronic twins. The Vienna-based duo layers high-pitched live-vocals over five-octave-arpeggios and 180-BPM-gabber-kicks, only to merge into a two-minute interlude, a transcendental ballad and back to a break-infused halftime stomper. It’s a rave opera of grand feelings and high-speed ecstasy…” (Disorder - Fast and Nice, March 2022).

dogheadsurigeri

DJ and producer - Raised in the sweat-soaked club spaces of Warsaw and currently based in the epicentre of London’s electronic music scene, Dogheadsurigeri has been busy creating a signature style that fuses the high speed catharsis of techno with the euphoric, blurred neon vision of trance. She’s been a member of Oramics, an initiative that supports the participation of women, non-binary and the LGBTQ+ community in electronic music, since 2018 and has been a representative for the project on various panel discussions about the lack of visibility of Eastern European artists in the Western art industry and solidarity practices within the music scene.

Dogheadsurigeri is rising from the smoke ‘n strobes of Poland’s contemporary club music underground and is fast becoming known for her cutting-edge techno/trance sound and even faster DJ sets - techno/trance/experimental.
