Lilli Hollein, Matylda_Hero - Lilli Hollein, Matylda_Hero

Lilli Hollein and Matylda Krzykowski
26. 8. 25, 7 p.m.

A conversation that offers two people a platform in equal measure opens up a special insight into their subjectivity and reveals each of them both as individuals and in their reactions to each other.
Lilli Hollein and Matylda Krzykowski have known each other since 2011, but haven't seen one another for a long time. At public reunions, they talk about some of the things they have seen since then and, above all, about their work. Using images of events, people and objects, the public format can reach a level that we cannot yet imagine.

Venue
Stadtgalerie Zwergelgarten
Date
26. 8. 25, 7 p.m.

Lilli Hollein

Lilli Hollein has been General Director and Artistic Director of the MAK – Museum of Applied Arts Vienna since September 2021. The design expert studied industrial design at the University of Applied Arts Vienna and cofounded the internationally renowned VIENNA DESIGN WEEK, Austria’s largest curated design festival, of which she was also the director until 2021. In her role as a curator, she was responsible for a number of architecture and design exhibitions and in 2007 she was appointed commissioner of Austria’s entry to the Architecture Biennale of São Paulo. As a design and architecture critic, she has published in national and international media and specialist magazines, including Der Standard, ORF, Domus, blueprint, Ottagono, FRAME, and MARK. From 2010 to 2013 she was president of the jury of KÖR – Kunst im Öffentlichen Raum Wien (Public Art Vienna) and from 2015 to 2019 she was president of ADN – Austrian Design Net. Since 2022 she has been an honorary professor at the NDU (New Design University St. Pölten) and since 2023 a member of the University Council of the University of Applied Arts Vienna.

Matylda Krzykowski

Matylda Krzykowski works with space: objects within space and ideas outside of space. She seeks to instigate conversations, works to maintain their energy, and thereby affects results. These results are almost always entirely born from intense and generous collaboration. Krzykowski is organically interdisciplinary. (It’s a way of doing, rather than a way of thinking.) Krzykowski travels widely to develop formats, engage with communities and urgent topics. Strategic Improvisation is her method of operation. Wherever she may be, she sees the visible and reformats the unseen.
