Anna Scherbyna / Valentina Petrova, Sisters (2019), 12 Min.
Video 4K, colour/sound Ukrainian, with English subtitles.

The film Sisters is dedicated to the anti-feminist conservative women's movement Sisterhood of St. Olha, which rejects an open definition of gender and postulates a patriarchal society where women do not have the right to vote. The ambivalence of the movement's leader is unmistakable in her quest for reverse emancipation and power. It attempts to analyse and ironically reflect the image of the anti-feminist activists: Members of the fictional Sisterhood of Saint Mary of Egypt fight for unequal rights and paint their nails. In a world full of temptations and perversions, they must resist. Can these beautiful and brave women, who don't wear trousers, save the traditional family values of patriarchy?
