Short-film programme curated by artist Ángela Bonadies

Following the co-invitation of Salzburger Kunstverein and Salzburg International Summer Academy of Fine Arts, Venezuelan artist Ángela Bonadies curates a film programme for one of Sunset Kino’s nights, followed by Q & A with Marina Fokidis. The programme includes film-makers Ana Alenso, Valentina Alvarado, Carlos Castillo, Ciudad Artavazd Peleshian, Andrés Duque and Margret Tait, who respond to the notion of displacement either by living in exile, or through the loss of the motherland due to autocracy, militarism, exploitation and corruption. Their short films share similar poetics that move between humour, nostalgia, resistance to blind anthropocentrism, and ecology. Art practice is approached in this ensemble as a mother tongue: the house from which power and progress are questioned and where destinies intersect.

Ángela Bonadies

Ángela Bonadies' photographic practice focuses on memory, archive, and the visibility and invisibility of cultural structures and urban space. Her work moves between straight photography and digital montage to ask from a critical perspective how the medium produces meaning.
