A Course on Colour as Sensual, Poetic, and Cultural Experience
In this course, we explore sensual encounters with colour – as the expression of inner states, fleeting impressions, and imagined realities. Participants will investigate the physicality of colour: its light, its temperature, its density. We will approach the question of how structure, form, and colour can be understood and shaped as a unified whole. Memory and its projections play a role just as much as the perception of nature.
The poetry that emerges in the artistic process requires no explanation – it is a groping, a sensing, a searching for ways of seeing and their translation into form. In this way, a bodily relation emerges to that which announces itself in the inner eye and takes shape as image.
The aim is not so much to understand images through a theoretical-logical approach as to artistically translate the sensual, empirical, and poetic dimension of seeing and experiencing.
The course begins with an introduction to working with acrylic and tempera. Together, we will explore different possibilities of applying paint and discuss the individual qualities of each work.
After initial exercises on paper, we will soon move into larger-scale formats, where physicality, expression, and gesture become all the more tangible.

Mojé Assefjah
„Each painting is, to me, a vision a scene, a view. My works are invitations for the eye to gaze through a window opened onto a space of nostalgia. They unfold as vast imaginary vistas, where color acquires sculptural depth, breathing life into forms that hover between the seen and the suggested. Working in the ancient tradition of egg tempera, I explore how structure, form, and color can be experienced and shaped as a unified whole. My paintings tell stories of dreamed landscapes that hover between abstraction and figuration.“
