Finding, visualising and thinking out an idea in drawing and model
In the workshop Think big in small scale, sculptural objects and installations will be developed in model size through drawing or "model sketches", and possibilities for presentation will be played out.
On the basis of the models, we will discuss details essential for implementation of the objects/installations: size, material, surface, possible combinations and other technical solutions, as well as arrangement in the space.
For this, an appropriate scale model of a desired exhibition space will be produced; possibilities for presentation will be tried out and photographed.
At the start of the workshop, participants' portfolios will serve as a basis for discussing various approaches, which will be further developed in one-to-one conversations. It is important for me to engage with the artistic process of each individual participant, and to take it into consideration. We can also draw on existing ideas that are incomplete or have not been worked out, or on planned exhibitions.
During the course, I will give insights into my own mode of working, in the development of which drawing and model play a major role.
The aim is to form a precise idea of size, material and technical execution of sculptural objects or installations, and to experiment with possibilities for presentation in relation to the relevant space.

Julie Hayward
The starting-point for Julie Hayward's works is drawing, which happens in a kind of psychic automatism. In a variety of media, objects reminiscent of science fiction are developed, deliberately evoking ambiguous emotions. Thus information or emotions stored in the subconscious assume a concrete form that reflects a psychic parallel world. Much is clear, and a little frightening – yet somehow remains vague. Humour and irony are essential aspects of these inventions, which raise existential questions.
